The OC Fic Meme!
May. 21st, 2012 09:19 amMeme post has been topped so that it'll stay right there at the top of my journal and easy to find.
I got several positive responses, so I'm gonna go ahead and start the meme.
It's a simple concept. People post story prompts. other people fill them in replies. Since there's no 'claiming', and multiple fills are encouraged, there's no pressure to fill it. You can, of course, say 'I'm gonna fill this one!', but you don't have to say anything before you actually post the fill.
There's only two major rules here, though I may add more if issues come up (though in general The OC Fandom is mostly awesome in my experience so I don't expect too many issues)
1. Be respectful of other people. If you don't like a prompt or a pairing for the prompt, scroll past it. No telling people their prompt sucks, no arguing that 'so-and-so wouldn't do that', because hey! These memes are made for AUs! Also, no out and out character bashing. You may think a character is a horrible excuse for a human being who needs to die, but someone else may love them. So try to couch things as opinions. For example, "Marissa is a raging bitch who needs for everyone to tell her how horrible of a human being she is and hate her and beat her to death!" is BAD. But "I think Marissa was a pretty lousy friend and girlfriend, so how about having someone give her a verbal and/or physical smackdown about some of what she said and did?" is GOOD. Got it?
2. WARN FOR TRIGGERS! Rape, abuse, suicidal thoughts/actions, eating disorders, etc... if you think it could majorly upset someone, then list them in the subject line for your comment. If I see a prompt with major triggers that doesn't warn, I will screen and/or delete it and if possible tell the prompter to repost with warnings. If I can't get in touch with them (for example if they prompted anonymously) I will repost with the warnings. If triggers confuse you, take a look here, it seems to give a pretty good idea of what triggers are and why they NEED to be warned for. Obviously some people have unusual triggers, so you can't warn for everything, but if it's a common trigger, I expect to see a warning. And so it doesn't become an issue, Slash DOES NOT need to be warned for.
Gen, Het, Slash, Crossovers, AUs, Crack!Fic Prompts... pretty much anything is welcome.
One prompt per comment. Fills go in replies to the comments with 'FILL - Title - Character/Pairings' in the subject line, and any additional warnings either in the fill title or at the top of the fill comment. Simple, right?
The first comment below will be for any questions people have, please post questions in replies to it, NOT as new comment threads. I wanna try to keep things nice and neat.
As we get prompts and fills, I will make an 'index' post that lists filled and unfilled prompts separately, and I'll keep it up to date.
