I... may be writing some fics none of you care about soon...

Nano progress is 8,442 words so far! That's a little over two full days ahead! I could not write a word tomorrow or the next day and still not have fallen behind! WooHoo! Not that I will be taking advantage of the excess, since I'm saving it for next thursday when I've got a dental appointment and will probably be in miserable shape for the whole rest of the day and might not write anything, so I'm gonna at least try to keep 1 day ahead if not 2 just in case I can't write...

Anyway, about the fic thing... since I'm, writing SciFi for NaNo, I'm watching lots of scifi stuff to stay in the mood... Star Trek in particular... Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise to be exact. And omfg I am so wanting to write some Trip/Hoshi or Janeway/Paris fic right now... I love my Engineer/Linguist and Captain/Helmsman pairings... lol... Janeway isn't my favorite Star Trek Captain (That's a toss up between Picard and Sisko, though Janeway beats Archer hands down), but I adore Janeway/Paris...

So I may be writing some Star Trek fic relatively soon... but I promise all my 24 Gifts will be fandoms you guys care about... lol

ST is the fandom I have actual books for, being the one they published a lot for, I shipped Paris/Torres, Trip/T'pal/Pol? though...clearly a traditionalist

DS9 was the best, I think, stronest stories on air and in the books, where they had a sequel thing going on at one time

I don't buy the ST books anymore, but am still on the lookout for DS9 stuff

Paris/Torres is definitely my second favorite Voyager ship (Torres/Kim being my third favorite... lol), I loved it at the time (was so so happy when she told him she loved in while they floated in space... lol) but over the years Paris/Janeway has eclipsed them as my favorite pairing...

As for Trip/T'Pol... I liked them at first, but later it just felt a little forced to me, and since Trip and Hoshi were my favorite characters (with Malcolm close behind), I migrated towards pairing them... lol...

For me, my main priority is always 'What pairing will make my favorite happiest?', and then I tend to ship it. And Paris and Trip were my favorites, so... I can't really explain it with P/J vs. P/T, because Torres made him happy more often than not. But with Trip/Hoshi vs. Trip/T'Pol... I just felt like T'Pol was too reserved and cold with her emotions for Trip. I felt like he should be with someone who was a little more open about how she felt. I was still happy for the good Trip/T'Pol moments (when they kissed, when T'Pol admitted her feelings for him) and I was sad for the sad moments (baby Elizabeth dying, T'Pol's obvious grief after Trip's 'death' in the series finale), but I just fell out of love with the pairing.

And yeah, Deep Space Nine is probably my favorite storywise. There's no one character I can point to as my favorite (Like Paris and Trip for Voyager and Enterprise) because I loved so many of them. But the I think the Dominion War was some of the best storytelling in Star Trek history.

I've also always felt that Voyager would have been better if it had been a little less light hearted and a little more serious about the fact that they were on their own, 75 years travel from home, with no hope of back up coming unless they made allies. In other words, if it had a been a little more new 'Battlestar Galactica', a little less original 'Lost In Space'.

And now I've written an essay of sorts... lol
