Okay, so i was on Tumblr and checking at a The OC Confessions blog, and one of them SERIOUSLY rubbed me the wrong way...

Quoting directly from the confession:
"I liked how we didn't really know if Ryan and Taylor worked it out in the end, it makes me believe that the one truly meant to be with Ryan was Marissa."

So... they LIKE to think that Ryan will never be really happy, relationship-wise, because he lost the ONE person he was 'truly meant to be with'?! They would rather he spend the rest of his life with random women and never be really deeply happy because they aren't Marissa?! I mean... really?!

I have no issue with people who love Marissa and Ryan/Marissa... I have no problem with people who think they would have had a epically happy life together in the future. I disagree, but I don't have a problem with them thinking that. But to say that you're HAPPY to think Ryan has lost the ONE person meant to be with him? That's just... kinda asshole-ish in my book...

I do however like a couple other confessions that are giving me ideas... like someone referring to Marissa as being Ryan's Jimmy Cooper... as in the one before THE one... I kinda wanna try to write something that's AU where Marissa didn't die, but during that year she was with Jimmy sailing instead of with Ryan at college, Ryan met someone else and that someone else is Ryan's Sandy... he'll always care about Marissa, and if she needs his help he'll offer it (the 'Kirsten loaned Jimmy money' kinda help)...

Anyway... yeah...

Um, I kind of agree with you: I'd NEVER want for Ryan to have a miserable life because he lost Marissa...but something about Ryan/Taylor actually annoys me (and I've never been a RM fan), though I know those who suggested that confession not only dislike RT, but also wish Ryan never loved anybody else after Marissa's death.

And your idea for that new fanfiction intrigues me: maybe his 'Sandy Cohen' could be Brooke? I personally would love that!! ;D

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have extremely mixed feelings about R/T... I think her ridiculousness was exactly what he needed in that year after Marissa died, but in the long wrong I don't think she was right for him...

And Brooke is exactly who I had in mind for the fic idea...
