Fic: 'Almost Home' (Criminal Minds, Apocafic)

I don't think I ever posted this one here... I wrote it for Apocalyptothon 2011, and I simply adore it...

Almost Home

Hotch and JJ are the main characters, though others are there. Technically JJ/Will pairing. There's lots of character death (It's an apocalypse, what do you expect? lol)

I'm tempted to write some stories about the span of time between the Apocalypse and where the story picks up a year later... they made a cross country journey in that year (California to Quantico, with a couple months stuck in Ohio due to extremely bad blizzards) and there's so much potential for story, including crossovers...

Anyway, I wanted to share because I haven't unlocked 24 Gifts of 2011 yet and I wanted to make an apology of sorts of those not on my flist... I went out of town right after Christmas, and then no sooner do i get back (actually I was still gone, I started crashing on the drive home) I got sick and I've spent the last two days pretty much crashed out and feeling crappy and I STILL feel crappy... so it'll be a few more days before I get the gifts unlocked... but it WILL happen...

It is so awesome to see you writing in this fandom! I have become obsessed with criminal minds since this past summer. This story was really interesting. You didn't make it easy for them, and the little glimpses into the start of the apocalypse paired with how they have adapted in a year has left me wanting more

Yeah, like I said, I kinda wanna write that year in between... and since they covered so much ground, I could have crossover in there... like maybe one of the cops who survived the initial event with the team? Was John Cooper... or maybe they run into Ryan Atwood along the way... even without any crossovers (but with some original characters because they'd have to be interaction with the rest of the group), there's so much story to tell... Even just the story of the winter stranded in Ohio... did they hunker down in a school like they planned to do in DC? Or did they find a farmhouse or something? Did they all have to basically be on near-starvation diets for the winter?

I figure they went a bit of a round about route, because Reid wanted to check on his mom in Vegas, and Morgan's family is in Chicago, so they went California-Vegas-Chicago-Stuck in Ohio for the winter-Quantico... with other little detours for people in their group who had family members somewhere along the route... Because as much as Hotch and JJ wanted to get home, they couldn't deny others the same chances to find family...

Anyway, I'm sure at some point I will explore this universe further... I'm actually vaguely considering it for CrossBigBang... lol

Oh god... ::facepalm:: I meant to unlock them weeks ago and i just continue to forget... I also never unlocked 24 Gifts 2010 because I never managed to finish them, but I need to unlock them... and there's the first two chapters of a fic that I meant to unlock MONTHS ago and never did... lol... I'll work on unlocking stuff tonight, and post a list of links to everything once I'm done...
