The morning after Ryan moved into S.A.R.A.H. with the Carters, Zoe woke him up by literally jumping up and down on his bed until he grabbed her by the legs and yanked her down, threatening to smother her with a pillow if she didn't stop. She started again, then ran out of the room when Ryan tried to tackle her.
2. When Ryan and Zoe were 17, right after Jack Carter and Allison Blake got married, there was a spy in Global. So Ryan and Zoe designed and built a device that would temporarily kill microphones so Allison could talk without being overheard. Actually, it was already designed as a prank to annoy Stark, but they'd shelved it when he lost his job and Allison got the job as head of Global.
3. The first time Ryan got to go back to Eureka after working in Atlantis, he went to stay in his old room in S.A.R.A.H. Zoe woke him up by jumping on his bed. He still hasn't entirely forgiven himself for kicking her legs out from under her and making her hit the floor, breaking her arm in two places. She never brings it up, and still feels guilty about obviously putting him on defense that morning.
4. When Zoe arrives on Atlantis and reunites with Ryan, she calls him 'Grand Theft' and he calls her 'Identity Theft', and then they proceed to share stories of the less than legal things they've each done, both before Eureka and while living there. Cadman never lets Ryan live down some of his escapades.
5. When the Genii once again take over Atlantis and shoot Ryan, Zoe shoots three of them because no one hurts her 'brother' and gets away with it. Ryan then spends a week calling her 'Jo Jr.'

When Jess took Ryan to Stars Hollow for the first time, Taylor Doose say the guys exchange a quick kiss in Luke's Diner (through the stupid Window he'd put in the wall between the diner and his candy store), and pitched a fit about it being inappropriate. Jess and Ryan retaliated by painting the words 'Tolerence: Get Some' backwards on the window so they'd be readable in the candy store. When Luke saw it, he just grinned, and when Taylor complained, he suggested curtains for the candy store side.
2. When they'd been together 5 years, Ryan was diagnosed with Cancer. Jess stood by him during harsh chemo treatments and radition that made Ryan's hair fall out. But while spending hours at the hospital, Jess worked on a new book about the experiences, and while some reviewers hated it because it was so incredibly different from his earlier stuff, it became a sensation because of the raw emotion of it.
3. When things were looking really bad for Ryan's chances, the guys talked and decided to move to Stars Hollow because it was 'quieter'. Ryan suggested it because he thought Jess could use the support of having his Uncle Luke around, just in case. And Lorelai was remarkably supportive to both of the guys. Everyone was releived when Ryan miraculously went into remission, and after discussing it, the guys decided to stay in Stars Hollow.
4. Ryan mocked Jess mercilessly when Oprah not only picked the book to be in her book club, but also invited Jess to appear on the show. Then he wrote Jess' 'not interested' letter because he really didn't think it was a good idea for his boyfriend to tell Oprah where to shove her invite.
5. They never got married, despite Lorelai's jokes about needing to make honest men of eachother, but Ryan and Jess stayed together for the rest of their lives, adopting a couple of kids that had been labeled as unadoptable just because they wanted to pay forward what Luke Danes and the Cohens had done for them.

Date: 2009-09-21 08:03 pm (UTC)2. A few years after his divorce, Ryan started dating a woman that he really liked, maybe even loved. Then he found out that she wanted to send Lily to boarding school and Ryan ended it immediately. His daughter will always come first to him, even above his own happiness.
3. Despite knowing that Ryan did musicals as a kid in Chino, the Cohens didn't realize that he really could sing, and sing really well, until they overheard him singing to Lily when the little girl had colic. She's the only one he sings for, and he denies the ability if anyone else asks.
4. When she was 4, Lily once 'accidentally' poured red fruit punch all over the white dress of a Newpsie who was flirting with her dad because she wasn't going to let some gold digger use her daddy. Ryan scolded her in public, but later bought her an ice cream cone for looking out for him.
5. Whenever Lily starts dating a guy, the first thing she does is introduce him to her dad because she knows her dad's instincts about people are pretty much top notch. And she knows he'd never lie to her about his gut feeling just because he didn't want his little girl dating. Case in point? Ryan gave her a green light on a guy who smoked and partied, but wound up cheating on her because he thought she needed to learn that sometimes people hurt you. But he absolutely refused to let her leave the house with the clean cut honor role student who less than a month later killed his girlfriend because she had hugged a male friend that had tutored her. So, Lily trusts her dad's instincts about her boyfriends, and it comes in handy when she almost turns a guy down flat only to have her dad suggest she give him a shot. She married that one, and he never let her down for the rest of their lives.

Date: 2009-09-21 08:19 pm (UTC)2. Ryan spent nearly 2 years pretending he didn't feel anything but sibling love for his brother's ex-wife. Then he got a big promotion he'd been hoping for and he realized the first person he wanted to tell was Summer.
3. They got married in August, in a small church with family and friends but no Seth, who had insisted they were both traitors for falling in love. Sophie Rose kicked Seth in the shin at the wedding reception when he showed up druink and proceeded to call Summer a whore.
4. When their daughter Lily was 9 months old, they'd started fighting a lot, and in a moment of weakness, Summer kissed Seth, who promptly gloated to Ryan. Ryan took the baby and went to the Cohens, leaving Summer a note that told her she had a choice to make. She chose Ryan and they dealt with their problems, making their marriage stronger. But Seth's nose was never quite straight again.
5. Ryan designed an envirometally friendly house for them, complete with solar panels for most of their power. He hadn't told Summer about the design until he was ready to build, and she loved the surprise. Then she gave hima surprise: she was pregnant again. The entire family moved into the house the day Robbie came home from the hospital.

Date: 2009-09-27 09:21 pm (UTC)1. Lorne didn't want Ryan on his team at first. Then he saw Ryan take a Marine almost half again his size for harassing a female scientist, then follow up by teaching the woman how to do the same. After that, Lorne decided he wanted the kick ass scientist on his team.
2. Despite his complaints about wanting a different team because his keeps getting him hurt, if anyone tried to move him to a different team he'd refuse. Lorne, Cadman, and Leri are his team, his family on Atlantis, and the four of them would do anything for eachother.
3. The first time AR-5 spotted Ryan yelling at someone who'd screwed up, Cadman called him McKay Jr, and it became the teams nickname for him. McKay pretended to be offended when he found out, but actually he didn't mind since he considered Ryan the second msot competent person on the science team, right after Zelenka.
4. Ryan was the one that started the AR-5 tradition of holding vigil at an injured teammates bedside when Cadman was laid up with a broken leg. He made sure that she was alone as a little as possible until she was on her feet again. Now it's usually him in the bed and the rest of the team taking turns. They've perfected their schedule now.
5. Another running joke on Atlantis is the fact that Ryan 'stole' Beckett's woman because Ryan and Cadman ended up having to get married on one world. When Becketter asked Cadman to marry her, she said yes, then added that only if he didn't mind sharing her with Ryan. Ryan responded by throwing a balled up piece of paper at Cadman's head as she laughed. Beckett teases Ryan about being the 'other man', but he doesn't do it to publically embarass Ryan like Cadman does.

Zoe likes to say Ryan moved in with the Carters because she insisted, but really Jack was glad to have another guy in the house to help him overrule Zoe and SARAH on occasion. He also felt better knowing that Ryan was safe in SARAH if something went horribly, terribly, deadly wrong overnight.
2. Jack legally adopted Ryan after the teen returned from being believed dead in a lab explosion. He needed to make sure that, if anything ever happened, Ryan would know that they were a family and would fight for him. He was a little hurt at first that Ryan didn't want to change his last name, but couldn't help appreciating the logic that there didn't need to be a Sheriff Carter and two Dr. Carters in town.
3. Ryan never made Jack feel like an idiot, even when Zoe inadvertantly did. Except when Ryan told him to stop being an idiot and get his act together long enough to tell Allison how he felt. If a 17 year-old kid knew he was in love with Allison, he really should have the guts to say it to the woman herself.
4. The scariest thing Jack ever experienced was sitting in the Global infirmary between two beds, one holding Zoe and one holding Ryan, as their immune systems collapsed. When it was all over, he still grounded Ryan for a month for overriding the orders he (Jack) had given SARAH to keep Ryan sealed up inside the smarthouse until the virus had passed.
5. When Ryan went home to Eureka for an extended visit after being injured on Atlantis, Jack spent a night sitting against the side of Ryan's bed so he'd be there if his kid work up from nightmares of what he suspected was torture. And also suspected was more memory than dream. And every night after that, he was always there before Ryan had a chance to wake up from his bad dreams.

Date: 2009-09-29 08:13 pm (UTC)1. Ryan actually felt at home in LA with Christian and Wilbur, maybe because there really was no pressure to be anyone in particular. Yeah, once he started school, there were some comments about Cristian being a plastic surgeon, including girls who seemed to think Ryan would get Christian to give them a discount on boob jobs, but that was more funny than anything.
2. After the incident with the Carver attacking Ryan, Christian wondered if maybe Ryan would be better off going back to the Cohens, but Ryan made it clear that he wasn't about to leave Christian and Wilbur behind to be 'safer'. Christian agreed when he realized how much the boys needed eachother now, like the fact that Wilbut kept creeping into Ryan's room every night to sleep curled up beside his brother so he'd know Ryan was safe.
3. When Ryan called Christian 'Dad' while talking to Wilbur after the Carver attack, it was an accident. But it started to become a regular occurence, 'Dad' and 'Christian' being used equally, before it eventually leaned more towards 'Dad' being the norm.
4. Ryan was wary about the girls he dated, both because he didn't want them to be using him to get discount boob jobs, but also because at first he couldn't shake the idea that Christian would look for flaws that needed fixing, and might be just rude and crass enough to mention it to a girl Ryan actually liked, screwing things up. It worked out, though, that Ryan finally fell for a girl who was perfect, inside and out, and would glare and bitch at Christian for being an ass. And Christian thought she was great.
5. When Christian was diagnosed with cancer, he hid it from Ryan and Wilbur for as long as he could. And when Ryan found out, he blew up at his dad. Ryan could understand keeping it from Wilbur, who was still a little to young to understand what it meant, but Ryan was pissed that Christian hadn't bothered to think of how he'd feel if he came home from school to find Christian throwing up. Which, actually, is how Ryan found out about the cancer.
