Star Trek! (non-spoiler-y)

missmara13I just got back form seeing Star Trek in the theater! I haven't seen a movie in the theater since... uh... Lion King... in 1994... lol...
But last Thursday, I said to my mom that, since I was gonna have Monday and Tuesday of this week off, maybe we could go to see Star Trek... and since the local theater turned out to have a Tuesday Special where you can get 2 movie tickets, 2 medium drinks, and a large popcorn for $25, so... we went!
And my opinion? Which is shared with my mom (who watched Original Trek with HER mom when it was originally airing)? Is that it freakin' rocked!
Yes, it breaks from traditional canon, but they did it in a brilliant way and I loved all the little details! The classic lines being used ("I'm a doctor, not a...!" and "I'm givin' her all she's got!" and Chekov's V's=W's... and of course "Live Long and Prosper")... I can even totally live with Winona Ryder as Amanda Grayson... her role was small (in terms of screen time) but she did a good job, I think... I was most doubtful about her, but... I think it worked.
Within the first 15 minutes, I said to my mom that I'm still keeping it on netflix to get as soon as it's out on DVD... but by a half hour/45 minutes in? I was telling her "Forget netflixing it. When this sucker comes out on DVD? I'm buying it ASAP!" She agreed enough to say she'll split the cost with me... we both agreed that if it was on DVD and we could watch it again immediately tonight? We would.
I know not everyone agrees that it rocked, but... we loved it.
I may post a more indepth, spoiler heavy post later, right now? I'm kinda still too hyped... (Edit: Spoilers In Comments!
I'm such a huge Star Trek Nerd that I sorta... umm... taped my ticket stub to the wall by my bed... yes, feel free to mock... lol
(I'm expecting it from my RL coworker, K, if she sees this... lol)
PS? People are getting Star Trek images for icons somewhere... anyone know where? lol... I know where to get posed images of Kirk and Spock, and pics of the cast in regular clothes, but people have like stills cropped into icons...? Where from? Anyone know?

I found some awesome pics to make icons out of... I gotta do that when I get home (on my lunch break right now... scarfing down pizza before I gotta go back to work... lol... 3 hours or so of ice cream! yay! lol)
