Okay, everyone who knows me halfway well knows I'm a science/science-fiction geek. If you're not into these topics, just skip this entry, because it's all geeky stuff.

*Will ET Be Hostile?*
The arguement that Aliens can't be hostile, and must be friendly and peaceful, or they couldn't surive long enough for deep space travel is flawed logic.
Look at Humans. We fight wars CONSTANTLY within individual countries we can't get along. We kill eachother regularly.
By using the logic that a hostile race couldn't surive long enough to do deep space exploration, those people are saying that Humanity will never explore Deep spavce unless we do a MAJOR turn around in how we think and act, something which I find highly doubtful.
Now, I don't neccesarily beleive ALiens are either peaceful or hostile. I think it's possibly that different species of aliens behave differently. One may be friendly and want to help us. One May want to enslave or kill us and drain Earth's resources (Something Humans are doing all on our own, though... maybe if we drain our own resources enough the mean aliens will leave us alone! lol) . And another may just not care about our little backwater world at all and leave us alone. Or they may wbe scared of us because hey, we blow eachother up, afterall!
Of My Rant About Views On The Intentions of Aliens

In other, not quite as geeky science news, did ya'll know that the 26 year-old Voyager 1 Spacecraft is actually still transmitting data back to NASA? It's at around 90 AU from the Sun (Keep in mind that 1 AU is the distance from the sun to the Earth! So it's 90 times as distant!), and is the farthest any man-made object has ever traveled from earth! WAY past the 9 planets of our solar system! How cool is that?
At some point, according to an article I found, communications with Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 (Which is currently at around 70 AU) will be lost. But sitll, that they are sitll in contact with both spacecrafts is amazing and cool!
About Voyager Space Craft Stuff

LMAO! This one is short, no need for a cut! I'm looking at a fact sheet comparing Earth and Mars, and under the section 'Intelligent life' for Earth it says "Some would say so."! LMAO!

Okay on the same Earth/Mars Fact Sheet, it says that Martian volcanoes are extinct, only their remenants remain. Uh, hello? How the hell do we know that? If a little moon like Io can erupt, so can a comparitively big ass planet like Mars!
And um HELLO?! Mount St. Helens was suppose to be extinct. Until it blew it's top and destroyed like a whole bunch of land around it, AND killed abunch of people!
Scientists cn be real boneheads who wouldn't know logic or common sense if it bit them on the asses.

Freeze, Fry, or Dry: How Long Has The Earth Got?
The earth will be inhospitable in about 1 Billion years. I'll bet that's got you scared! lol By the time the sun changes enough to turn Earth into an "inhospitable greenhouse", I think we'll have either killed ourselves off, or we'll have the tech to move to other solar systems to live. Heck, we'll probably have the tech to jsut plain live in space ships for generation after generation, and when over crowding becomes a problem, materials are manufactured to make a new ship! lol
Another theory in that same article is that the earth only has half a billion years left before it heats up enough that the oceans all boil away.
Here's hoping we get good funding for space exploration before then... lol
About The 'Death of The Earth' (Not Imminent! lol)

I think that's it for Science Geekiness today...
