missmara13I did this once before, almost exactly a year ago, on January 1st 2008, (Click Here To See the Master Post Of Results), and had a lot of fun, so I decided to do it again but with some slightly different prompts. I look forward to see what the most popular picks are this time.
The basics of it? You pick a list of 2 to 4 characters from a provided list, then you pick a location from a list, and finally you pick one (or two) situations from a list. Then I write you a comment fic for it. The fic will most likely be unrelated to any other fics of mine, but they could go into odd little twists of a universe unrelated to the regular timeline (meaning it technically takes place in the universe, but doesn't have any impact on the main storyline of the universe). If that makes any sense... lol

Date: 2008-12-31 04:58 am (UTC)"Tell me why we're in these boats instead of in town getting ready for the whole wedding thing?" Derek asked, glancing first across his own boat at Dean, and then over at Ryan and Luke in the other boat.
"Because Luke is stressed out and about to rip Taylor's head off if he doesn't relax for a few minutes," Dean replied from underneath the baseball cap he was using to shade his eyes while he tried to nap.
"And the reason we're fishing without fishing poles?" Ryan said with a sigh.
"Dean didn't tie them down poperly and they went flying," Luke said, shooting a glare in Dean's direction.
"Oops?" Dean said, his smirk not quite hidden by the hat.
"So why didn't we give up and go to a strip club?" Derek asked.
"What part of 'underage' do you nto understand?" Luke said, jerking his thumb towards Ryan.
"He's gotta learn sometime," Dean replied, laughing.
"What part of 'I get laid more often than you three combined' do you guys not understand?" Ryan replied.
"Oh geeze," Luke said.
"That's actually kind of pathetic," Derek lamented with a sigh.
"Reminds you why you made your sister send him to live with you, huh?" Dean told Luke. "Dawn was certainly a good influence."
"And you had no influence at all," Ryan said to Dean. "Didn't you once ditch me in a playground to make out with some girl in the bathroom?"
"Hey, she was hot!" Dean protested, then yanked his leg back and yelled as Derek kicked him. "Hey!"
"You don't ditch your brother, Dean," Derek said. "And then you don't brag about it to your uncles."
"Neither of you are my uncles!" Dean protested. "Just 'cause me and Ry are both unlucky enough to be the progeny of Frank Atwood doesn't mean his mother's brothers are my uncles!"
"And yet we can't get rid of you," Luke said. "And for some reason I got talked into making you one of the ushers for the wedding."
"Lorelai loves screwing with you, Luke, deal with it," Derek said, laughing.
The End
So... yeah... Luke and Derek are brothers, Dawn is their sister (Liz, Jess' mom, may also exist, I haven't decided), making Ryan their nephew. When Dawn kicked Ryan out, Luke found out and insisted Ryan come stay with him. Dean is the biological son of Mary Winchester and Frank Atwood, and while he calls his stepfather, John Winchester, 'dad', he stills loves his little brother Ryan, and oddly enough has a good relationship with Ryan's uncles... lol

"We don't have proof..." Sheppard began.
"Footage of a half dozen victims slowly dying in a hotel room without windows? Who else is it gonna be, Sheppard?" Ryan asked. "I'll bet the room layout is identical to the last two Musuems, and I know the victims we've identified fit the profile."
"We still don't know for sure," Sheppard said carefully.
"It most likely is, though," McKay said, not as cautious as Sheppard but still watching for Ryan's reaction.
"And this time, the SOB's gonna get caught, right?" Ryan said.
"We'll get him," Sheppard agreed.

It was strange. Ten years, almost to the day since Sheppard first encountered The Collector's handiwork after stumbling upon one of his musueams and the 20 bodies within, they caught the guy.
Ryan had been in the lab when they'd gone to make the arrest, and Sheppard had asked McKay to make sure Ryan stayed distracted until after the guy was out of interrogation and into a cell, he didn't want Ryan to run into the guy, didn't want to deal with the fall out of that.
That plan went to hell when they were hauling the SOB down the hall and the ground started shaking beneath their feet. One minute, the officers had a good grip of the guy's arms, the next they were ont eh ground and the Collector was down the hall, running as fast as he could, straight towards the labs.
Sheppard swore under his breath as he stuggled to his feet, the ground still shaking, and stumbled after him, intent on getting to him before he got to Ryan. The last thing he wanted to see was Ryan having to deal with this.
By the time he got there, though, The Collector was standing directly in front of Ryan, who was visibly shaking, face white as a sheet.
"My one mistake," the Collector said. "I should have gone in and checked your pulse before giving them the tip."
"You should have," Ryan agreed, his voice shaking slightly. "Then you wouldn't have gotten caught."
"What? You figured it out?" The Collector said with a laugh.
"I tracked the webcam, asshole," Ryan said.
"It would be so much fun to break you again," The Collector said, stepping forward.
"Stay right where you are," Sheppard said, pulling his gun.
"Am I suppose to be scared of you?" The Collector said, turning.
An aftershock hit, sending them both to the floor, and Sheppard's gun skittered out of his hands and towards the Collector.
"My my... how inter..." The Collector began, only to cut off as a gunshot rang out. He looked down at his chest and the blood spreading out from a neat little whole, then collapsed onto the floor.
Sheppard looked up to see Ryan holding his own gun, hands steady at first, then beginning to shake almost as much as the floor had. "Ashole," he said before sinking down to sit on the floor against the wall as the other officers ran up, guns drawn. He slowly put the safety on the gun and set it down. "One bullet missing from the clip, one chambered," he said.
"You alright?" Sheppard asked as he stepped apst the body to check on his coworker.
"He's dead, so I am good," Ryan said. "Did you find the victim on the webcam?"
"She's at the hospital," Sheppard said. "She'll be fine."
"What the hell is going on?" McKay demanded as he arrived, taking in the dead body and the way Ryan was shaking. "Oh."
"Come on, you need to give an official statement, then I say we go get beers, celebrate getting that asshole out of the gene pool."
"Yes, because beer that tastes like piss is a good way to celebrate," McKay said, rolling his eyes. "We're taking him somewhere that serves good beer."
"Canadian beer is not better than American," Sheppard replied.
"Of course it is!" McKay said.
Ryan smiled, the shaking edging away. If there was one thing he could count on the two idiots he worked with, it was making everything seem normal by bickering like five year-olds.
"I'm more in the mood for hard liquor," Ryan interrupted, pushing himself off the floor. "And a lot of it."

"We were playing pirate and it's a snake," Jamie replied.
"Where's Uncle Ryan?" Nathan asked next, glancing around and finding his friend, the one he'd actually trusted to watch Jamie, was nowhere to be seen.
"He's not feeling well," Summer said. "Food poisoning and sea sickness."
"Yikes," Nathan said.
"Summer?" Ryan asked from the doorway. "Why is my godson wearing your feather boa?"
"It's a snake, Uncle Ryan," Jamie said.
"Uh-huh..." Ryan said.
"Please tell me that's new and not from any... previous... games?" Nathan asked awkwardly.
"She had it when I met her," Ryan said, leaning tiredly against the doorframe.
"I've had it since I was 4, and only brought it because Ryan freaks out if you drop it on his face while he's sleeping, and it's hilarious," Summer said, grinning.
"You are an evil, evil, woman," Ryan said with a sigh. "And I'm going back to sleep."
"I'm taking my son with me this time," Nathan said, untangling the boa from Jamie. "You wanna go hang out at the pool with your mom?" he asked.
"Yeah!" Jamie said, running off to get changed into his swim trunks.
"I'm never letting you two babysit again," Nathan said. "At least not unless I'm garunteed Ryan is healthy and in charge."
"Good idea," Ryan agreed before heading back to bed.

Date: 2008-12-31 09:11 pm (UTC)Summer ran down the shaky steps as Ryan closed and sealed and hatch, the moans and screams of the creatures fading out, replaced by pounding on the hatch. Then, Ryan was at her side, pulling her to the far end of the shelter, then forcing her to sit, her hands over her ears, and his hands over hers, trying to block out the sound.
But as she leaned agaisnt him, it was the pain in her wrist that kept drawing her attention. She just hoped the wound wouldn't get infected in the dirty conditions of the shelter.

In one of the side rooms were 3 toilet stalls and 3 showerheads, water still flowing through them, and Ryan stood under one of them, the palms of his hands flat against the wall as his shoulders shook with suppressed sobs. As the warm water started to turn cold, he turned, leaning against the wall, and slid down to sit, the water still pouring down on him.
Summer quickly moved to his side, gathering him in her arms, not caring as they were both soaked by the water. "I know, Chino," she whispered, holding on as tight as she could. "It'll be okay."

It was strange, but the place seemed like it had been prepared for something like this, with changes of clothes and food stocked even though it had been locked up for decades. But the dates on the food were more recent, so they weren't really worried about it.
Ryan had to be reminded to eat, drawn out of the desire to just sit and grieve, and he'd do it for Summer, her voice soft and pleading.
Neither of them brought up their families or friends, not wanting to cause more pain than was already right on the surface.

One morning, Ryan shook himself from his stupor, glancing over at a still sleeping Summer, and headed for the Machinery room he'd discovered a few days earlier. He was pretty sure the power came form hydro-electric, run by the river that was less than 50 feet away, and the running water probably came from there, too. So if he wanted to keep power and water, he had to keep the machinery running.
"What are you doing?" Summer asked.
"Keeping alive," Ryan replied.
"Someone's going to come," Summer whispered.
"Probably, but there's no way to know for sure. So I've gotta keep this running."
"You're really taking good care of me, Atwood. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Still be alive," Ryan said in a broken tone of voice. He lifted his head staring at Summer with sad eyes. "I'm so sorry," he whispered.
"It wasn't your fault, you tried," Summer said. "But you need to get rid of my body, you know that. It's been quiet for over a week, you can at least open the hatch enough to put me outside."
"You deserve a grave," Ryan whispered.
"You deserve not to die of disease," Summer replied.

It was clear outside, so Ryan began to dig, not making the grave deep, just a few feet, but he kept alert for the telltale moans, screams, and snapping twigs. He was just putting the dirt back on top when he heard a noise that had become unfamiliar.
Lifting his head, he heard the telltale gunfire, and lifted the shovel just in case any of the undead showed up, and headed towards the sound, collapsing to his knees when a military truck appeared and several soldiers jumped out, running his way.
"You did it, Chino," Summer whispered. "I'm proud of you."

Not what you were expecting, I'm sure, but... halfway through it hit me...
'Summer' wasn't a ghost so much as Ryan imagining her because he needed a purpose, he needed to not be alone. My intention is that Summer was alive in the very first scene, as they arrived and Ryan broke down. But the wound on her wrist was a bite, and she and Ryan realized she was infected, leading him to have to kill her when she died and reanimated, further adding to his issues of hallucinating her.

Date: 2009-01-01 09:45 pm (UTC)"You didn't believe me, did you?" Ryan said as Bobby stood in the doorway, staring at the sleeping toddler who, despite being maybe 2 or 3 years old, was undeniably Dean Winchester.
"How did he manage this?" Bobby asked, walking closer and seeing that the toddler was wearing Dean's, now oversized, leather jacket.
"Pissed of a trio of witches," Ryan said with a sigh. "And he's damn lucky I like kids or he'd be bound and gagged in the trunk of the Impala by now," he added.
"That bad?" Bobby asked, trying not to grin. He was still getting to know Ryan, but he could still hear the concern under the irritation, and the way Ryan kept looking over at Dean with a scared look in his eyes was telling.
"He was drunk when the curse took affect," Ryan said.
Bobby snorted, then coughed to hide the laugh. "Yeah, probably didn't leave him in a good mood," he said once he had a little control. "Does he remember you?"
"Bobby!" A little voice suddenly said, and then, despite the oversized jacket tripping him up, Dean launched himself off the bed towards Bobby. "Didn't know they were witches!" he said. "Not my fault."
"If you didn't flirt with three women, all wearing occult amulets, all in the course of an hour, you wouldn't be 3," Ryan said, trying not to sound too annoyed. "Your turn, I need to scam some beer to deal with this."
"Don't go, Wyan!" Dean cried, reaching for Ryan.
Ryan sighed, but walked away from door. "Fine, I'll stay," He said, taking Dean. "You know, I am goiong to mock you forever for this once you're a grown up again," he added.
"Mock you, too," Dean said with a grin before resting his head on Ryan's shoulder. "Sucker."
"Brat," Ryan replied.
"So he remembers, but..."
"Veiled by a 3 year-old's innocence," Ryan finished. "He seems okay, except for the fact that when I tried to get him clothes that fit, he flirted with the clerk, told her that I wasn't his big brother, he was mine, and then said he'd shoot me if I put him in a 'Bob The Builder' shirt."
"Explains the abandoned motel."
"Yeah, I wasn't leaving him alone in the Impala, and I wasn't taking him in to talk to a clerk," Ryan said with another sigh. "You know how to fix this, right?" he asked, sounding a little desperate. "Or at least I can convince you to go buy at least one shirt and one pair of jeans that fit because this isn't gonna work and I have no desire to see a naked Dean."
"Girls like naked Dean!" Dean piped up with a grin.
"Not in the same way when he's 3!" Ryan replied in the same tone of voice.
Dean frowned and looked over at Bobby. "Fix it, Bobby," he said.
Bobby snorted, not even bothering to hide the laugh this time. "Alright, what have you got so far, Ryan?" he asked, heading for the table.

Date: 2009-01-03 09:54 pm (UTC)Ryan tried his best not to shake as he stood in front of the grave that held one of his best friends. On one side, Brooke had her arm twined around his, clutching his hand tightly, and on the other Jess kept a hand on his shoulder, both of them steadying him.
"We'll figure this out, Ryan," Jess promised.
"And who's he gonna kill before we do?" Ryan replied, glancing over.
"Guys?" Brooke whispered. "There's a guy over there watching us."
Jess snapped his head up, tense. "I've never seen him before," he said. "Ry?"
Ryan slowly lifted his head, sweeping his gaze around the cemetary until they came to rest on a man standing half in shadow. "It's Dean," he whispered. "My brother. I guess he heard," he added as he slowly pulled away from his friends to go talk.
"Did you know he had a brother?" Brooke asked.
"Yeah," Jess replied. "The guy's been in jail for like 5 years, though. He tried to kill their father."

"Hey," Ryan said, hands shoved into his pockets, as he approached Dean.
"I heard," Dean said, odding towards the grace. "What happened?"
"Someone's... someone's after us, Dean," Ryan said. "We don't know who, we don't know why, but... it started out... someone spraypainted stuff on his car, and slashed up Brooke's car seats. Then my room got trashed, and they... they cut our faces out of the picture of the four of us. And now... now they killed him. We don't even know what we did. How can we fix it, if we don't know?"
Dean frowned. "I'll figure it out."
"Dean..."
"You're my little brother, and no one is messing with my little brother," Dean said. "You just stay safe, let me handle it."
"If we can't figure out what we did, what makes you think you can?" Ryan replied.
"I always liked a mystery," Dean said. "Promise me."
"I promise, I'll be careful, and so will they."
"Good," Dean said. "Now come on, I remember Jess, but who's the hottie?"
"Besides jailbait?" Ryan replied with a sigh.

Date: 2009-01-22 11:21 pm (UTC)"It may not be gourmet, but it's edible," Ryan said as he put the food he'd just managed to get mostly cooked onto the counter in front of his travelling companions. Then, he grabbed the thermos off the counter and poured Lorelai a cup of not quite steaming but still warm coffee.
"My hero," Lorelai said dramatically as she closed her eyes and took a sip.
"I thought I was your hero for finding the coffee?" Nathan protested.
"Yes, but making coffee beats finding it," Lorelai said.
"He couldn't make it if I hadn't found it!" Nathan insisted.
"If you can find me chocolate, you'll have the title again," Lorelai promised.
Ryan shook his head, trying to ignore them, and feeling an ache in his chest as the bickering reminded him of breakfast with the Cohens.
"Come on, sit," Lorelai urged, pulling on his arm until he slid into the booth beside her. When he didn't start eating his own plate of food, she wrapped an arm around his shoulders and puleld him closer, stroking his hair and trying not to think of all the times she's comforted Rory the same way. "We'll be okay," she promised, looking across at Nathan, who was watching Ryan anxiously. "Don't ask me how, but we will. I am way too beautiful and young to die."
"The jocks always get killed in the horror movies," Nathan pointed out.
"So I guess I'll survive out of beauty, and Ryan out of brains," Lorelai said. "We'll remember you fondly... uh... what was your name again?"
"Funny," Nathan said, but he relaxed as Ryan chuckled softly.

"Half the country fell into the ocean and we're on a cross country trip to find out if you guys even have homes left," Ryan said later, when he and Nathan were packing the truck back up. "I mean, seriously? What the fuck are we doing?"
"I ahve to try to get to Haley," Nathan said. "And Lorelai has to look for her fiancee, and maybe here daughter's out there, too."
"And me?"
"And we're not about to leave you," Nathan said. "If I've still got a home, so do you, man," he added.
"Besides, you're really good to have on our side in a bad situation," Lorelai said as she came out. "With the ass kicking ability."
"And the cooking," Nathan added. "The two of us... we'd have starved to death by now."
"Right," Lorelai said. "You're the brains of this little outfit. We'd be screwed without you."
"Just promise to remember my name for longer than 30 seconds after I die," Nathan added, rolling his eyes towards Lorelai.
"I'll add it to the list," Ryan said. "Let's get going, I wanna try to hit Utah before we stop.
As the other two climbed into the truck, Ryan looked up at the dark sky, wondeirng how long it would be before the dust settled and they'd see the sun again. As he opened the driver's side door, the ground trembled beneath his feet and he froze, waiting it out before trying to move. The ground seemed to move likes waves on the ocean, rising and dropping, for several long moments before turning still again.
"Did I ever tell you guys about Taylor Doose?" Lorelai asked as the quake stopped and Ryan got behind the wheel. "I'll bet he's attempting to run Star's Hollow with an iron fist and Luke is thrawting him at ever oppurtunity."
"Like leading the resistance?" Nathan asked.
"Absolutely! Luke probably enlisted his nephew to come up with dastardly deeds to take Taylor out. Jess is good at that kind of stuff, when he's not stealing garden gnomes."
"I don't think I wanna know," Ryan said, glancing at Nathan, who nodded.
"I'm with you there," Nathan agreed.
