Another fic, this time BTVS
Oct. 27th, 2003 06:54 pmWrote this back around mid-7th season. Takes places right after 'Showtime'. Buffy/Spike, though more friendly 'I care' than lusty 'I love you'. ;p;

Buffy sat on the edge of her bed, carefully using a towel to clean Spike's wounds. She was extremely greatful that her slayer strength had let her half lead, half carry him up the stairs without waking the sleeping SITs or any of her friends. Buffy knew she couldn't hide him forever, and in fact she planned on telling everyone that he was back first thing in the morning. But tonight.. Spike was too weak, too tired, too injured to deal with everyone and their questions.
"Buffy?" Spike murmured softly.
"I'm here," Buffy replied, offering him a slight smile as he stuggled to open his eyes a bit. "How do you feel?"
"Like I got runover by a sodding truck."
Buffy shrugged. "Not far from the truth. The First did a number on you."
"I saw you... it kept being you and telling me how you didn't love me. Didn't want me... then Dru would try and get me to help her hurt you..."
"Just rest, Spike," Buffy told him, starting to stand. But Spike grabbed her wrist, his grip remarkably strong considering how weak he looked. "Spike..."
"I wouldn't, luv. I told Dru I wouldn't hurt you. Gotta believe me... Never would..."
Buffy sat back down and took Spike's hand in her own. "I do. I believe you." She pulled the sheets up over him. "Now you need to rest so you'll get better. I need your help."
"With what?" Spike asked, trying to focus his mind on her as he pushed himself up some.
Buffy smiled and pushed him back down. "Rest first. It can wait."
"Just tell me what the bloody hell you need help with," Spike said, though he did lay back down.
Buffy laughed. "Giles brought me some Potential Slayers to protect. I need you to help me train them."
"A bunch of bloody Slayers In Training?" Spike asked, groaning. "They'll stake me!"
"I won't let them. Neither will Dawn."
"How is Niblet?"
"She'll be glad to see you," Buffy said. "Now, I'm telling you Spike, rest. When you wake up I'll have some blood for you."
"Fresh?" Spike asked, struggling to keep his eyes open.
"I'm not killing Xander if that's what you're thinking," Buffy joked.
"I was thinking more along the lines of one of the SITs. How many do you really need, anyway?"
Buffy shook her head in amusement. "I'll go to the butcher first thing tomorrow. After I tell Dawn about you. She'll take care of you while I'm gone."
"I don't need a soddin' babysitter!"
"Until you can sit up without looking even paler than usual, you do," Buffy told him. "Now sleep! That's an order!"
Spike chuckled slightly and finally closed his eyes. They popped open again after only a moment. "Staying?" he asked softly.
Buffy nodded and laid down next to him, her head on the pillow next to his. "It's good to have you back, Spike."
"It's good to be back, luv."
THE END
Now I'm off to see if there's any other fics I wanna share... lol Oh yeah... and I gotta finish the updates to HF and MOT... lol
