Ryan and Seth in the pool is really the scene that launched a million and one slash fics... lol...
I love that even though Kirstn didn't want Ryan there, she was still distressed that he'd been abandoned...
I love the look Ryan gave Seth when Seth suggested tattoos and getting hookers to lose their virginity... like Ryan was thinking "Long past that, dude."
And the whole "Can you build me one?" question is jsut heartbreaking...
Oh my god! The first instance of them mocking Kirsten's cooking! And Ryan biting on the spoon!
Judging by the look on Ryan's face? I think he knows from experience how crowded group homes can get... and Ryan trying to placate Seth when Seth starts getting upset about it...
The first ever appearance of the actual opening credits... lol...
Act One:
I think it could be considered somewhat canon that Ryan has insomnia or a halfway regular basis... because I don't think he was planning on running away, I think it just happened because he couldn't sleep and finally just snapped and decided to go. And Ryan telling Seth a flatout "No." about Seth coming with him. lol... Ryan is clearly TERRIFIED of Seth's 'better idea'... lol
Sandy's oblivious sometimes... love the man, but oblivious... Sandy, you're being an idiot and projecting... although obviously he's halfway right since Seth was upset about Ryan, but... lol... Dude, you don't wake your kid up to sage your own guilt! lol
And here is how we know Summer's birthday is in the late Summer, like in August. Ryan's concerning about Marissa's drinking... and him mocking Seth's 'stealth' outfit.
I do still totally adore the trio of Ryan/Marissa/Seth from the early eps. The friendship there just so rocked...
The Model Home!
I both understand Kirsten's worry, but also think she was being a total bitch with the anti-Ryan sentiments.
Seth really does put out a gay-vibe in this ep... first the black turtleneck is 'slimming', then the model home needs 'sprucing'... poor embarassed Woobie as he tells Marissa about his family. I would have loved Ryan and Marissa as FRIENDS, I might have overall been more forgiving of her bullshit if it had been anyone but Ryan she was hurting... The joking among the trio was just so great in this episode! Ryan snickering about Luke shaving his chest... lol... I really am remembering why I loved Marissa at first... early on she was... I don't know... not so horribly screwing up Ryan's life... lol... Summer not knowing who Seth is... LMFAO! And Marissa being nice and lying to Seth that Summer said 'Thanks'... lol... I'm gonna be writing a million and one AU fics based off the early eps... lol
Act Two:
Luke is the biggest idiot ever... lol...
God... Ryan doing the pull ups on the scaffolding...
And Kirsten's clearly worried about Ryan...
Kaitlin was so damn annoying... lol... Willa was a goldmine when they got her... lol... and lying idiot Jimmy totally screwed over his family...
I LOVE Marissa's way of getting out of hanging out with Luke... LMAO!
And clearly Marissa isn't stupid (Although honestly... a loofah and moisterizer?) because she brought toiler paper... but I LOVE that Ryan thought of food...
I LOVED and STILL LOVE the pier scene, of the three of them going along the pier laughing and having fun... it remains a favorite moment ever...
Seth and Marissa = love... they totally should have been together... lol... Luke is just such a moron in the early eps... Seth = Idiot. Love Ryan decking Luke...
Act Three:
No, Marissa, Ryan DID have to hit Luke... and Luke totally deserved it... Jimmy could have destroyed Kirsten and Sandy's marriage by asking for the loan... idiot... Poor Marissa for having to find out what was happening that way...
Sadness as Seth bought the bus ticket...
Luke sucks worse all the time... and Summer was really, really, unlikeable at first...
Seth and Sandy's talk int he car is so foreshadowing the season finale, with Seth taking off...
::sigh:: I almost miss the days when I liked Marissa... because I can never really like her again knowing what's coming... I just can't hate her quite as much... I kind of felt bad for Marissa when Ryan rejected her... but seriously girl, he can't be homeless forever, he needs and deserves a chance to have a good life!
Act Four:
(Missed msot of it because mom got home and she had a crappy day and needed to vent a bit...)
Luke and his friends are morons. But at leats Luke had the sense and decency to pull Ryan out of the fire.
I think Julie wouldn't be so happy if she knew HOW Jimmy fixed the problem. Although we did catch a glimpse of the more likeable Julie in that scene.
And Luke and his friends DID show some worry about Ryan after the fact... we caught a tiny glimpse of the Luke we'd come to know and love...
I totally missed the scenes where Luke picks Ryan up and then when Ryan turns himself in... but I remember them as being great scenes... lol
I need to start making a list of fic ideas I'm getting while rewatching these eps... because there's been some good ones... lol
