Book 7 thoughts...

Okay, I finish Book 7 last night, read the last 50 or so pages in bed... Behind the cut are my thoughts... MAJOR spoilers for Book 7, as in all the big crucial moments get commented on... lol
I was shocked when Ron got angry and abandoned Harry and Hermoine, but I wasn't overly surprised that he came back.
I jsut about cried and sobbed when Hermoine was being tortured... so gut wrenching... and I DID mist up when Dobby died...
I LOVE that Kreacher started liking Harry and in the end led the House Elves on the attack... go Kreacher!
What I Was Right And Wrong About
I was wrong about the wand Ron took being the Elder Wand... but it seemed to fit at the time! lol
I was right about all out war, especially the last scene. I was right that Harry, Hermoine, and Ron wouldn't return to Hogwarts (Going to look for the Horcrux and fighting the final battle don't count because I meant for classes... lol) I was right that Neville would fight again and do soemthing heroic, and in fact he did a LOT of something heroic. He was standing up to the new regime at school, and he killed Nagini, which is what made it possible for Harry to defeat Voldemort. I was right that Dumbledor and Siruis would make appearances.
Draco... I was wrong about him. He neither ended up captured and locked up or did something good. Although in the end the suggestion is clear that he has made peace with the main trio, even if they will never be friends. I loved his mom helping Harry pretend to be dead, though. I was also glad that oen fo hsi cronies died because they're jerks... lol
I was right that something big would happen at the wedding, and it wasn't good at all.
Grawp, the Centaurs, and Aragog's descendants DID play their parts in the final battle, all though the spiders were badguys and the Centaurs didn't join in until the end...
I was right about a Weasly dying, though I wish it had been Percy, even if he did redeem himself in the end. I'm so sad that Fred died... and devastated that Remus and Tonks died...
Petunia was her usually horrible self, but DUDLEY did step up and prove he's not so horrible, so... I think I should get partial credit! lol... I was proud of Dudley for that.
We didn't see Moaning Myrtle, but we got Nick, and we actually got the back story for The Gray Lady and The Bloody Baron! Yikes, it's gotta be hard, even as ghosts, to live in the same castle as the man who killed you... and for him to live with the woman he killed and then killed himself over...
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I liked it. I had a few minor issues with it.
It's only left to be assumed that Hermoine went and removed the charm from her parents and reunited with them.
Did any of Voldemorts followers survive to someday wreck havok (thought not to the Voldemort amount)?
Who did Draco marry, was it anyone we know of? Is Draco's kid like he was? Or is he maybe a good guy?
Did Tonks' mom raised Teddy Lupin after Remus and Tonks died? Did someone else raise him?
What happened to the Dursley's? Did Harry ever see them again?
Did Molly Weasley ever accept that Harry and her kids had to fight because it was their duty? That while they paid a terrible price with the lost of Fred, it was worth it in a way because Voldemort was FINALLY defeated once and for all? Does she still treat Harry like he's one of hers?
Anyway, overall I liked it.

Date: 2007-07-22 05:24 pm (UTC)I bought the book yesterday and I'm mid chapter 4 (I don't want to waste the book, so I'm gonna read a little bit each day and then think about it...anyway I'm rambling).
I hope you liked the book (although I'm afraid I won't enjoy it as much as the precedents). *going back to my reading lol*
