What is a Universe!Crossover you ask?

It's taking the characters from one fandom and putting them into the situation of another fandom...

Example: The OC into Supernatural. Demons and other bad paranormal stuff is real, and Trey and Ryan Atwood are Hunters and searching out it out to put a stop to it.

The characters from the 2nd fandom don't have to appear in a Universe!Crossover (If they do in anything more than supporting roles, it's more of a regular crossover...), but overall the world of the 2nd fandom should be followed. So if it's a fandom where many people are dead and only a select portion are alive, then you've gotta have the landscape be relatively empty.

Example: If you're second fandom was 'Jeremiah', then everyone past puberty should be dead. So no one over the age of 12 or 13 survived, and if you set it 15 years later as 'Jeremiah' did, then no one can be older than mid-to-late 20's.

You can tweak some things, like the exact timeline, to fit you fandom, but the overall situation must remain the same.

Example: In 'Jeremiah' the virus struck in 2006. That would mean that not many characters on current or past shows would have survived. So if your 1st fandom was The OC, you could place the virus as happening in 2000, when the teenage characters would have been about 12 or 13, young enough to survive it. And you can have the story happen any time after the virus.

Now, in some cases it could mean some tweaking to both fandoms. Some fandoms just aren't an obvious match (General Hospital characters in the Firefly universe pops into my head... lol), but even those I think are possible with tweaking, and that's part of the fun!

I have a few more random examples below that I may write (And one of which I have but I'm not allowed to post until May 25th because it's for Brandywine's Arson challenge... lol), but if anyone else gets their interest piqued, feel free to write them...

Example: The OC into Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Caleb Nichols came to Colorado Springs when it started prospering, and his daughter Kirsten and her husband Sandy followed with their son Seth a few years later. Now a runaway who was abused by his parents, Ryan Atwood, has stumbled into their lives and Sandy is determined to help the boy. (Dr. Quinn characters could easily appear, but only as secondary characters... like Dr. Quinn herself, or her daughter Colleen/son-in-law Andrew could treat injuries of Ryan's right after he arrives... Ryan could try to hustle cards at Hank's saloon...)

Example: The OC into Jeremiah. 10 years after a plague wiped out everyone over 13, Ryan Atwood is trying to take care of the group of kids he's gathered around him, but Newport may not stay safe as an old friend becomes a new enemy.

Example: The OC into M*A*S*H. During the Korean War, Ryan Atwood is an injured soldier who finds himself meeting and falling for a nurse at a M*A*S*H unit, Summer Roberts.

Example: The OC into Any Daytime Soap. Total soap-y goodness of baby snatchings, kidnappings, mobsters, love triangles, murder, cheating spouses, and people trying to take over the world... totally over the top but come on! You know Caleb totally wants to rule the world even in canon!

Okay, jsut felt like posting that little explaination because I may start writing some more Universe!Crossovers. And the 'Rules' above are just what I consider to be the rules since I've never seen this actually referred to as a SubGenre... lol...

Anyway, it's late, I'm falling asleep... good night...

So, lets see if I got that right. A regular crossover is a fic (for example, could be something else...) where characters from both universes are main ones.

Example: Ryan meets a beautiful mutant girl whose skin is poison. (Bad example)

Right?

And a Universe!Crossover is taking characters from one universe and putting them to another universe but not using the other universe's characters as main characters.

Example: Instead of being rescued by Sandy, Ryan was moved to an experimental cell block in the Oswald Maximum Security Correctional Facility: Level Four called Emerald City with Trey. They need to learn to trust each other in order to survive.

Okay, my examples suck but am I in the right track here?
