I need to actually name the story because while it's tagged fics:ryantroy, that's not a fic title, just an identifier... lol...

Anyway, more snippets from the crossover...

After watching the same arguement play out over and over again his first three days home, Ryan couldn't keep quiet anymore. "Maybe it's what I want," Ryan said quietly. "Maybe I want to live with Christian."

"Kid, you don't..." Sandy began.

"If I go live with Christian, am I saying goodbye to you?" Ryan asked, his voice cracking slightly.

"You're always going to have us," Sandy said. "But you..."

"No one believed me," Ryan said. "I kept trying to tell everyone about Oliver, and you all just dismissed it as jealousy."

"That doesn't mean you should just run off to live with that man!"

"That man is my father!" Ryan replied. "And he wants me."

"So do we!"

"As long as I stay out of trouble and follow the rules exactly and ignore my instincts that scream at me that someone is bad news," Ryan said. "You wouldn't listen, you wouldn't even try to let me explain. Christian actually heard me out, he listened and he told me to be careful, not to stay out of trouble."

"What about Seth?" Sandy asked.

"It comes back to that, Sandy," Ryan said. "I'm not some fucking pound puppy your brought home to be Seth's bestest friend! I'm 15 and I... I just... I wanna be someone's priority for once. Not their after thought."

"Kid..." Sandy began, the grief clear in his voice.

"I'm never going to be your son, Sandy," Ryan said.

"You are..."

"No, I'm not," Ryan insisted. "If Seth had told you Oliver was bad news, would he have been told he didn't have any reason to be jealous? Would... would you have let Seth into a room you knew there was a gun in?"

"Ryan, I never..."

"I wanna try living with Christian," Ryan said firmly. "He said I could still see you guys, and I hope I can. But... I think I need to be somewhere... not Newport."

"We want you here," Sandy insisted.

"But I don't wanna be here," Ryan replied. "I'm sorry, but... all I will ever be here is your pet delinquent. Half the time I feel like I'm Seth's babysitter! At least with Christian's other son, Wilber? He's actually 4 years-old, not 16 and acting 4."

"You're not going to be his top priority," Sandy tried. "He's..."

Ryan sighed and ran his good hand through his hair. "But at least I'll be a priority. Not an after thought. I'll... I'll make you a deal, and I'll get him to agree to it, too," he said. "If I'm not happy in LA, if I wanna come back..."

"You can always come home," Kirsten said, moving to gently run a hand through his hair, neatening it. "We do love you, honey," she whispered.

"Yeah, and sometimes it feels exactly like my mom's kind of love," Ryan said. "When it's convenient. Do you really think that any of this has been convenient for Christian? Because I know he was rearranging his schedule to make time to come see me before, and now he's rearranging his life to make room for me in it. That's not convenient, that's... I'm important enough to him that he's doing this."

Kirsten gently pulled him into a hug. "We'll sit down with him, try and work out a plan like your idea, that if you're not happy, you can come home. But if we let you go, then you have to promise to call and let us know how you're doing," she added.

"I will," Ryan said.

"Christian, there's a woman outside waiting to see you," Liz said as she caught Chistian in the hall, talking to Sean. "She said her name's Kirsten Cohen."

Christian frowned, but headed for the waiting room, finding Kirsten flipping through a magazine, but clearly not seeing anything on the pages. "What can I do for you?" he said, voice tense, though not as tense as it would be if it were Sandy in front of him.

"Ryan told us he wants to come live with you," Kirsten said, standing up. "We're willing to let that happen without a fight, if you'll agree, in writing, that if he's not happy with you, he can come home to us."

Christian nodded. "I think that's reasonable," he said. "But you can't come in and drag him back if he's homesick at first," he added. "You and you husband have to give it a little time."

"We won't try to take him back unless he says he wants to come home," Kirsten swore. "We want what's best for him, and he was right when he told us that it's not Newport. Not right now, with everything so fresh in everyone's minds."

"Do you have something drawn up?" Christian asked.

Kirsten nodded and passed an envelope to him. "I think you should find it satisfactory, but feel free to have your lawyer take a look at it first."

"You better believe I will," Christian said.

"We want what's best for him, Dr. Troy," Kirsten said firmly. "Even if that's not being with us."

"Thank you," Christian said. "I'll get this back to you as soon as my lawyer clears it."

"That'll be fine," Kirsten agreed. "Thank you for your time," she added as she turned and left.

"What was that about?" Liz asked.

"She's Ryan's foster mother," Christian said. "I may not have to make this an ugly fight afterall."

~~~
Once the agreement had been signed, it all happened quickly. Most of Ryan's things were being sent via a delivery service Christian hired, but a few things were tucked into a bag and put in the backseat of Christian's car for the drive to LA from Newport.
"I'll take good care of him," Christian said, seeing the worry in Kirsten's eyes as she watched Ryan say goodbye to Seth and another boy, Luke. "You don't have to worry."
"Knowing that won't stop me," Kirsten replied.
Christian nodded. "We should get going."
Ryan seemed to sense it was time without being told and finished his goodbyes, walking over. "Time to go?" he asked.
"Yeah," Christian said. "I'll be in the car," he added, giving his son a moment with the Cohens.
"Call when you got there," Kirsten asked.
"No problem," Ryan agreed.
"You don't have to..." Sandy began.
"Don't, Sandy," Ryan said. "Please. I'll talk to you guys in a couple hours."
Kirsten carefully pulled him into a hug. "Call us anytime," she said.
"Sure," Ryan agreed. He glanced over his shoulder at the car. "I should go," he said.
"Ryan, you..." Seth began.
"No grand gesture is going to fix you not believing me, Seth," Ryan said firmly. "None. So just... don't." He glanced over at Luke. "I'll see you soon, man. Thanks."
"Anytime, Chino," Luke agreed.
Ryan nodded and turned away heading down to the car, trying to figure out how he could both be terrified that he was making the wrong decision and eager to start somewhere that he wasn't just 'the chino car thief' he was in Newport.
