Warnings: Temporary Character Death. Ghosts.
Summary: After he died, Ryan Atwood's life changed.
Notes: Yes, Ryan dies in this, but it's pre-story, and only temporary. He's alive again as the story begins. And he can see ghosts. And there is angst.
The whole collection of images can be found HERE on Photobucket. I'm actually up to a total of 114 images, I may still add more. But they are pics that give me ideas, so... yeah. If you look and see one you want to write something for, feel free, just let me know so I can read.
I DO plan on making a post with smaller sized (100x100) versions of the pics that link to the stories, I just haven't gotten around to it yet... lol

Sight
The worst part about dying, Ryan Atwood discovered, was that it was never quiet anymore after he woke up.
"You're stuck."
Ryan ignored the man who stood beside the bar in the pool house, not wanting to hear what he had to say, just like he hadn't wanted to hear what any of the other ones had been telling him. They were hallucinations, and while he might becrazy enough to see them, he wasn't crazy enough to talk to them.
"Did you hear me, Ryan? Because I'm not joking. You're stuck between worlds, and there are things that are going to be coming at you from all sides. People like you... you're special..."
"Hey, hallucinations are real special," Ryan said, turning to glare at him.
He shook his head and walked over. "I'm not a hallucination and you know it. I'm here to help you. Protect you..."
"From other hallucinations?" Ryan said. "Like that guy who's lurking out there?"
The man looked, his expression immediately going dark. "Yes, from spirits like him."
"Great, my hallucination says I'm haunted," Ryan said, sighing.
"We're not hallucinations," the man insisted, moving in front of Ryan again. "You're one of the very few people who get close enough to the door that they can still see from one world to the next..."
"The door?" Ryan asked.
"There are no pearly gates, Ryan, there's just the door. It leads somewhere different for everyone. Some go to their idea of heaven, some go straight to their idea of hell, and some go somewhere inbetween, to be tested and wait for judgement one way or the other," the man said. "But some turn back because they are too scared to go through that door and face their judgement. Those are the ones you have to watch for, because they..."
"Wouldn't that include you?"
The man shook his head. "I went through, but I couldn't have my own paradise without my fiancee, so they offered me a place as a guide, to help you stay safe."
"So... you're a ghost?"
"Spirit," the man said. "And some spirits, the ones too scared to go forward, they want to go back. And you are an unlocked door, Ryan. They can walk right in."
"And what?"
"Take over your life, live again in this world."
"Then what happens to me?"
"If it's not your time... your spirit won't have anywhere to go. You'll be gone."
"I can't believe I'm listening to my hallucination," Ryan said, running his hands through his hair.
"Look me up, Ryan. Keith Scott, died on January 26th, 2006 in Tree Hill, North Carolina, the victim of a school shooting."
Ryan hesitated, wondering if it was even possible to have such a specific hallucination. "You can tell em how to stop them?" he finally asked.
"I can teach you a few tricks," Keith said. "If you're willing."
Ryan glanced out at the pool, towards three dark figures, more shadow than person, that stood outside the doors, watching him with shining eyes that seemed almsot... hungry. "I don't wanna die," he whispered.
"That's a good first step," Keith said.
The End
Abrupt ending, but... it's what came to me. Keith Scott is from 'One Tree Hill' (and is one of Brooke's favorite people ever), and I can see him being able to get through to Ryan. I'd say this takes place after the accident that killed M, except Ryan was more severely injured and almost died. Ryan remembers seeing a door and walking towards it, getting to the doorway and basically having someone tell him "Oops, our bad, it's not your time yet." and sending him back to live. So he's basically living in both the world of the living but with access to the world of the dead.
The other two Image Prompt Table Fics are:
Brother's Keeper (Image #34) which is about Ryan taking care of a brain damaged Trey, and dealing with it alone until he reconnects with some unexpected people.
Prank (Image #75) which is about Ryan being murdered by a couple idiot friends of Luke's who just wanted to 'scare him'. I repeat, Ryan Dies. You've been warned.
