missmara13Could either be AU of Eureka!Ryan where he goes to Atlantis and joins Lorne's Team, or could take place randomly between the two (Since Ryan is 23 when hired to work in Atlantis and he's not quite 20 in this one), I haven't decided. But it COULD make for some amusing additional Atlantis!Ryan snippets if Ryan also has Torchwood experiences... He could so take his first Wraith encounter in stride because he's seen Weevil's, fishheaded guys, and other Rift critters... lol
Torchwood's mission is to protect the British Empire from Aliens and Rift monsters, and most of Torchwood is kinda villianious at times, but Torchwood Three in Cardiff, Wales are good guys.
Captain Jack Harkness - The current head of TW3, Jack is effectively immortal (He was brought back to life by massive energy temporarily wielded by a friend of his), and while he'll 'die', he recovers very quickly. He's a flirt with pretty much everyone, male, female, and other, and will have relationships with people/others regardless of gender and species. Currently Jack is involved with Ianto.
Gwen Cooper - A former police officer who got tied up in Torchwood activities after witnessing the team at wrk, and was recruited to join them. She harbors feelings for Jack, carried on an affair with the now deceased Owen, and is currently married to her long time boyfriend, Rhys.
Ianto Jones - Ianto's primary job is administration and covering up their covert operations, but he often also ends up serving them tea and occasionally snacks. He initially stayed at the 'Hub' while the others went on missions, but he's been going out with the others more and more. Currently, Ianto is involved with Jack.
Owen Harper & Toshiko Sato - The Medical Officer and Computer Specialist, Owen and Tosh tragically died in the Series 2 Finale, leaving Torchwood with only 3 Employees.
Torchwood!Ryan - A Spin Off Of Eureka!Ryan
Ryan was sitting at the computers in Torchwood 3, trying to make sense of the mess they were in, when Gwen arrived and gave him a startled look.
"Who are you?" she asked, wary.
"Ryan Atwood, our new cmputer tech," Ianto replied putting a travel mug of coffee on the end of one of the computer desks.
"Thanks," Ryan said, glancing up at Ianto and giving a nod of acknowledgement, then glancing over his shoulder at Gwen. "Hey," he said.
"American?" Gwen asked, surprised.
"The UK isn't the only place affected by the Rift and other not so pleasant things," Ryan said as he turned back to the computers. "And I have high enough clearance, so in exchange for Torchwood helping out my town, I was brought back to help you guys clean up this database."
"Tosh had it organized..."
"That much I can tell," Ryan said. "The problem is no one's been following Miss Sato's system since her death, so it's a complete mess."
"Is there hope?" Jack asked as he left his office.
"Maybe... a week and a half?" Ryan said. "I need a few days to sort the new data from the old, then a couple days to learn her system properly so I don't make a bigger mess, a couple to put the data in correctly, and then maybe a day to give a crash course to you three on entering new data correctly so this doesn't happen again."
"A little young, isn't he?" Gwen asked Jack as she moved to stand beside him.
"Old enough," Jack said with a cocky grin, then laughed at her expression. "He's been taking University level courses since he was 15, and now he's a student of stuff that mst 70 year-old science professors wouldn't understand. We're talking a certified genuis, Gwen, he knows what he's doing."
"But how old is he?" Gwen asked.
"In two weeks I'll be 20," Ryan called out. "I also have good hearing," he added. "Side effect of growing up in a town where you had to be on the alert for incoming test missiles from the local labs pretty much all the time."
"Where did you grow up?" Gwen asked.
"That's classified," Ryan replied. "Whole town is. And I may have enough clearance for Torchwood, but you don't have enough clearance for my hometown."
"I barely qualify for clearance for his hometown and I've been Torchwood for a century," Jack said. "Let me tell you, though, the Doctor would have a field day with that place."
"We're very secret and extremely hush-hush," Ryan said dryly. "Like if you talk, you disappear kind secret and hush-hush."
"Are you sure you don't want food?" Ianto asked. "You've been working almost ten hours straight."
Ryan blinked and glanced blankly at him, then at the time ont he computer, the time on the clock on the wall, and finally his own watch. "Huh. I always thought they were just giving me a hard time when they said I did that," he commented.
Jack chuckled. "Anyone up for driving Ryan to his temporary home so he can sleep for a couple hours?" he asked.
"I'll do it," Gwen said. "Where's he staying?"
"Owen's," Jack said. "We took it over so we'd have a place to put visiting specialist. Do you know the..."
"I know where it is," Gwen said.
"Give me two minutes," Ryan said, recluctantly, as he started to save his progress and placed a digital marker at where he'd left off.

I made up the part about Torchwood taking over Owen's former apartment. My intent is that either they bought it (As Jack said, they get visitors sometimes that might need housing... I still wonder where Martha Stayed when she visited!) or they took over the lease or something similiar.
