Kirsten and Sandy really did screw up in this one... they rationalized not going after Ryan because Seth had been hit and was on the floor... maybe Seth was still at leats partially high and he was knocked out, so they were distracted by that... and then they stupidly thought Ryan would calm down and call them (They REALLY should have known better... lol)...
But as you said, Ryan has The Nana and Caleb, and they've been good to him...
