Full Of Grace ~ Chapter One

Lucky Spencer knelt to place a rose on the grave, sighing as he contemplated what had happened over the last year, and wondering if it was his own fault that she was dead. If he'd never begun abusing drugs after the accident on the docks... if he'd never slept with Maxie... if he'd given Elizabeth a chance instead of letting himself be pulled in by Sam...

"She genuinely did love you," a voice said from behind him. "It wasn't just about getting revenge on them, at least not near the end."

Lucky turned to look up at Alexis Davis and forced a small smile. "Shouldn't I be comforting you?" he asked, pushing himself up. "She was your daughter, I was just the guy she was dating."

Alexis reached out to grasp Lucky's hand. "You loved her, too," she said. "If I needed a shoulder to cry on right now..."

"You have it," Lucky replied automatically. "If you need anything, Alexis..."

"Who would have thought, a Spencer and a Cassadine who aren't related offering eachother comfort and support," Alexis said.

"The war's been over for a while," Lucky replied. "But I mean it, Alexis, if you need anything, just ask."

"Even babysitting?" Alexis joked.

"You'd trust me with your girls?" Lucky asked.

"I know you would never hurt any child," Alexis said. "No matter what Liz and Jason have been saying."

Lucky nodded, letting out a breath. "I'd be happy to watch them for you sometime, just give me a call."

"Do you need a ride somewhere?" Alexis asked.

"No, I... I have someone else to visit," Lucky replied.

"Alright, well... call me later, so I know you're okay."

"I will," Lucky promised, giving her a brief hug and a soft kiss on the cheek. "Thanks."

Alexis started away, then turned back, watching as Lucky went and placed a second rose on another grave, a familiar one that held Alexis' granddaughter, Sam's stillborn daughter. Alexis turned away then, touched by Lucky's gesture, and she missed it when his gaze slid over to another grave, one hidden back a ways from the others.

Lucky slowly approached the grave and crouched down, staring at the inscription.

Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr.
October 30, 1982 - April 16th, 1999
Son, Brother, Friend, Love

Lucky frowned, brushing some grime off the stone with his gloved hand, and let his fingers linger over the name. His name. He'd never really considered the fact that he still had a grave in that cemetery, assuming that when he'd turned up alive the stone had been changed to identify the body beneath it as a John Doe, or that someone had tried to find out who it was so they could be given a proper burial. But no, this grave seemed to have been left alone for the entire nearly 9 years since the fire, the body instead still unidentified and seemingly without anyone even trying.

"I'm sorry," he whispered to the unknown someone. "I'm so sorry." With a sigh he stood and headed away from the grave, not realizing that he was being watched.

~~~~~~
Lucky walked up to the Spencer house, dreading going into the empty house that still held Sam's things, though he would have preferred that to facing who was sitting on the porch bench, waiting for him.
"Hi," Elizabeth Morgan said, chewing on her lower lip.
"What are you doing here, Elizbeth?" Lucky replied.
"I wanted to see how you were doing..."
"You thought she was whore and never hesitated to say it," Lucky said. "Am I suppose to pretend I don't know that?"
"Lucky..."
"You hated her..."
"But I cared, still care, about you!"
"That doesn't change anything, Elizabeth," Lucky said. "You hated Sam, you never passed up an opportunity to tell me what a mistake I was making to be with her."
"She was..."
"She was pregnant," Lucky said. "3 and a half months. We were getting ready to tell everyone. I was actually gonna have a kid that was mine, not just one that I was told was mine. And then your husband killed her."
"Jason wouldn't..."
"I heard him more than once tell her he would if she didn't leave you alone. And sure enough, the day after you two get into a big knock down drag out fight, the day after you drag her into a knock down drag out fight, she's shot and killed. You do the math, Elizabeth."
"You don't know that..."
"Don't come to my home and defend that murderer," Lucky said firmly. "Not when I can't even go upstairs because Sam's clothes are all over our room, and the nursery is half complete, and the entire damn house is empty because he killed her!" He took a step back and turned to the door. "Just go away, Elizabeth. I don't really want to see you. Not now, probably not ever again."
"Cameron's been asking for you," Elizabeth said. "I wanted to ask you to come see him..."
"At the home of the man who killed Sam?" Lucky replied, turning his head slightly. "No, I can't do that. But please, tell Cam I love him." With that, he unlocked the door and walked inside, closing it tight behind him and sliding down to sit on the floor, head tilted back and letting out a shaky breath.
"Lucky, please, open the door," Elizabeth asked through the door.
"If you ever loved me, even a little, you'll just go away," Lucky replied. "Please, Elizabeth..."
"I'm worried about you..."
"Then stop making it worse!" Lucky yelled. "Please, just go away!"
"I'll... I'll go, for now. But I will be back, Lucky, I... I'm here if you need me..."
He didn't respond this time, just sat there, waiting until he heard her footsteps retreating across the porch and then a car start up. Then, slowly, he pushed himself up off the floor and walked over to the mantle, which held a few pictures of him and Sam mingled with the older family photos and a couple pictures of Cameron and Jake that Lucky didn't want to let go of yet. He'd stuffed most of things Sam had bought for the downstairs into boxes and stowed them away in the basement, scared that if he had to face them he'd wind up destroying them and being left with nothing to remember her by, but the pictures he'd kept out, torturing himself with the sight of them.
This time, as he looked, his gaze was drawn to an old photo, from before the fire at the bike shop, from before he'd moved out on his own, of he, his parents, and Lulu all together, a family portrait Laura had insisted they take. As he stared at his own smiling face, maybe 15 years old and probably still thinking that the worst was over because they weren't on the run anymore and they'd survived the Cassadines returning to town, he wished he could go back to then and find a way to stop all of what happened after. Go back and make sure that he and Elizabeth did go to New York together, that they were happy and healthy and together.
He felt a shiver run down his spine and turned to look around the room, feeling like he was being watched, but saw no one in the room and no one outside the windows.
~~~~~~

In a room not so far away, one with monitors lining the walls showing various locations around town, a man sat watching the monitors that showed the Spencer living room from various angles. More specifically, watching Lucky as he looked around in confusion.

"I know how to get what we want," a woman said as she walked in. "We just need to make him think the way we want."

"How do you propose we do that?" the man asked, turning in his chair to reveal himself as Ceasar Faison.

"A few little mindgames," Helena Cassadine replied with a smile. "And I know just how to start and who to get to help us," she added, placing a photo down on the console.

Faison reached out to take the picture, a slow smiling forming on his face as he recognized the girl in it. "Really?" he said.

"My trollop of a dead step-granddaughter was a dear friend of the girl's, she despises dear little Lizzie, and she's quite gullible. Maxie Jones is the perfect pawn in our game. We just need the right track to persuade her."

"Do tell, my darling," Faison said with a smirk. "I can't wait."

End Of Chapter One

Once I get home tonight (I'm catching a ride home with my mom, so I won't be getting home until a little after 5 at the earliest) I'll edit this post to get the banner I made up top, and I'll switch out my icons to a matching Lucky Icon... lol... I should have done it last night, but I didn't even decide to post until now.

If any non-GH fans who read because the like my The OC stuff and they want a brief little primer on the characters and history, just let me know... I may post one anyway if I get bored enough before or after work... lol

Later.

PS: People are morons... the light is on for the computer hard drive on the next one over, but the MONITOR IS TURNED OFF! There's a big sign that says 'turn off your screen to save power', and no one can seem to figure out that you need to TURN ON THE MONITOR and that's why it won't work! Idiots...

They keep getting annoyed/frustrated before I get the chance to tell them, and it's way to early to deal with telling people in that kind of mood what to do, because they might snap at me instead of seeing it as me being helpful... lol
