Getting The Rules Straight (Southland Apocafic, Cooper and Sherman Vs. Zombies)
Southland Apocafic... Cooper and Sherman Vs. Zombies. Except the fic never once says Zombies... lol... meant to be kinda bleak, but also humorous ::shrug:: I like it... lol
Warning for language. Sherman's nerves are fried and he's swearing more than Cooper is... lol... actually, Cooper never does swear in this, it's all Sherman... lol
Getting The Rules Straight
Sherman slammed another clip into his gun, and moved forward to cover Cooper's reload, firing three shots in quick succession and taking out a single infected with each one. They'd been trying to get up until the hills, hoping the rough terrain would slow the things down enough to get to the cabin Sherman's dad owned out in the boonies, but before they'd gotten much further than the highway they'd found their path blocked by dozens of infected, with more coming as they tried picking them off.
"This is getting us nowhere," Cooper snapped. "Get in, we're driving."
"But they..." Sherman began, then stopped himself, knowing that it was stupid to worry about running over these people when he'd just been shooting them in the head. He quickly slid into the passenger seat of the SUV they'd grabbed from the station, barely getting the door closed before a hand slapped against the glass, making him jump.
Cooper let out a short burst of laughter. "I think it likes you, Boot," he said.
"Just fucking drive," Sherman snapped.
"Touchy, aren't you?"
"Cooper."
Cooper chuckled under his breath, but hit the gas, driving right through the gathering of infected, barely flinching as they bounced onto the hood of the truck and then over the roof.. He glanced sideways and saw Sherman's eyes squeezed shut, Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed convulsively at every thump of a body. "They're already dead," Cooper reminded him, hoping he didn't sound as soft to Sherman's ears as he did to his own.
"Still seems wrong to run them down."
"But shooting 'em in the head is a-ok?"
Sherman's only response is to turn and glare, then flinch and squeeze his eyes shut again at another impact.
"Hey I just wanna make sure I have the rules straight," Cooper said, deliberately swinging the SUV a bit wildly to avoid another infected, and grinning as Sherman turned a little green. "You okay there, Boot?"
"Fuck you," Sherman snarled.
Cooper chuckled slightly, but took care to avoid hitting anyone else as well as making any sudden turns. He needed the kid functional if they ran into trouble.
The End

Warning for language.
Good thing you don't drive with me as I swear worse than that at dumb drivers even with no zombies around. : )
