Yes, almost definitely! There's so many ways it could go, but I'll tell you know the way I currently intend to take it is that Ryan lives a full life, despite the wheelchair. He won't regain use of his legs because that kinda voids the whole impact of the story, but he'll be okay, even if he does go through various points in his life where he doesn't feel like he will be.
