24 Gifts Of 2010 - Day Nineteen - I Miss You (Ryan/Brooke)

As a reminder, there is no Day Eighteen because of me managing to splash hot grease on my hand last night... too much pain to focus on anything else... it'll be okay, though.

Takes place in the universe of Someone Tells You They Love You, a Ryan/Brooke ficmix I made back in May '09. In STYTLY, Brooke met Ryan while spending the summer between junior and senior years of high school in Newport with her parents, and she helped him through an alternate version of the events surrounding Marissa shooting Trey (where Marissa made up the attempted rape to get back at Trey for rejecting her), and they began to fall in love, but at the end of the summer, they parted ways with the knowledge that cross country romances don't work, but a friendship could. This takes place during early season 4 of OTH (which would be the second half of their senior year in high school).

"Hey."

Ryan paused, surprised by the voice on the other end of the phone. "Brooke?"

"Yeah," Brooke replied. "How are you?"

"Okay, I guess. Marissa's trial date was set, I'm gonna have to testify."

"Good that she's not getting out of it, but... I'm sorry you have to rehash everything," Brooke said.

"I can deal with it," Ryan said. "But you sound upset. What's wrong?"

"I am so stupid," Brooke said.

"You are not stupid, Brooke," Ryan said firmly. "What happened?"

"I got back together with Lucas," Brooke said. "And, silly me, I thought it would be different this time."

"What did that asshole do?"

Brooke laughed. "How do you know I didn't do something stupid?"

"Because you're not stupid," Ryan replied. "What did he do?"

"Kissed Peyton and hid it from me for months, then tried to say it meant nothing," Brooke said. "A kiss always means something, especially between them."

"I'm sorry, Brooke."

"I found out like five minutes before I was suppose to give my maid of honor speech at Nathan and Haley's re-wedding, where I was suppose to be talking about the awesomeness of true love, and it sucks so much because I'm on the other side of the country from the person I love..." Brooke cut herself off. "I'm sorry. I didn't... I didn't mean to say that..."

"Brooke..."

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry..."

"Brooke, I know," Ryan said. "I know exactly how you feel on that count, because right now... all I really want is to see you."

"Do you have any idea how much I want to just get on a plane and go back to Newport and you? I'll deal with Victoria if it means being with you."

"You'd regret it in about five minutes," Ryan replied.

"No, I wouldn't," Brooke replied. I just... I feel so stupid."

"I believed Marissa's lies for two years, Brooke. I let myself believe that she was this great girl who just had some issues, instead of a manipulative bitch who killed my brother."

"I just feel so alone right now."

"I'm a phone call away."

"I don't even know where I'm going to be living now, because Nathan and Haley are taking back the apartment, and there is now way I'm gonna keep living with Peyton..." Brooke sighed. "I really wanna come back to Newport right now."

"And not graduate with your friends?"

"What friends?"

"Brooke."

"I miss you."

"I miss you, too," Ryan said. "But you can call me anytime. I'll be here."

"I know," Brooke said. "I'll be in Newport after graduation?" she suggested.

"I'll pick you up from the airport myself," Ryan promised.

"Thanks."

"Love you, Brooke," Ryan said.

"Love you, too, hot boy," Brooke replied. "I'll call again soon."

"Let me know when you figure out the living situation," Ryan told her.

"I will," Brooke promised. "Bye..."

"Bye," Ryan replied.

The End
