Well, actually, I based the 'if you don't agree with a rule, talk to us and we'll think about it' thing is based on my mom's way. If we disagreed with a rule she gave us, we could talk to her about it, and sometiems we could come to a compromise halfway between her original rule and what we wanted. It worked, and me and my brothers never really broke the rules (Except for me getting into a big ass fight in kindergarten and my brother Seth getting into one in high school... lol)
I wanted to stick as close to canon as possible, so that's part of why Summer's stiull all activist, but why should she give it up just because she's a mom? My mom never stopped being an activist (not for enviromental stuff as much as political) even though she has 3 kids... I remember going with ehr to some rally's when I was little. The way I see it, Summer doesn't do quite so much active, out there stuff as she does organizing nowadays, but this one mattered in particular. It was gonna get explained later, but the chemical plant? They were dumping chemicals into a portion of the bay where kids, including Summer and Seth's son, play sometimes. It was personal to her to fight this one in person.
